For rugby clubs

The rugby club app your captain actually uses.

Comnly is built for the messy reality of adult rugby: 1st XV, 2nd XV, vets, women's, and the committee, all trying to coordinate Saturday selection on a WhatsApp group with 184 unread messages. Comnly replaces that with structured squad announcements, matchday RSVP, kit and tour payment links, and push notifications that get to players even when the group chat is muted.

  • Squad selection and matchday RSVP
  • Tour and kit payment links
  • Critical notices with acknowledgement
  • Per-team targeting
  • Push to every player

Real scenarios

Where Comnly earns its place

Pitch inspection and kick-off changes

Frost on the pitch, ref unavailable, kick-off moved an hour. Send a critical notice that pushes to the selected squad and requires acknowledgement, so the captain knows who has seen it before the team bus leaves.

1st XV only, vets only, coaches only

Target selection posts and notices by team. The 1st XV WhatsApp does not need to see vets touch tournament logistics, and the coaches group can stay coach-only without standing up a new chat.

Tour deposits, kit, and match subs

Attach a Stripe payment link to the tour announcement or the new training top order. Players pay in two taps and the money lands directly in the club's Stripe account with no commission taken by Comnly.

Features you will use

Built for the way your group actually runs

Push notifications to the whole squad

Selection drops, training cancellations, fixture changes: all delivered as pushes from the club, not as another beep in a muted group chat.

Acknowledgement tracking for safety briefings

Pre-season concussion briefings, RFU rule updates, away-tour conduct notices: mark them critical and members must acknowledge. The committee has a timestamped record if it is ever needed.

Fixtures, training, and socials in one calendar

RSVP for matches, midweek training, and post-match socials. Reminders the morning of and a couple of hours before mean fewer no-shows and fuller pitches.

Payment links for any post

Match subs, tour deposits, kit orders, end-of-season dinner tickets, sponsored 7s entries. Payments route directly to the club's own Stripe account.

A proper member directory

Players self-onboard via a join link or a QR poster in the clubhouse. Positions, teams, and contact details are accurate because the players entered them.

Turnout analytics for the coaches

See which players are RSVPing but not showing, which training sessions are losing numbers, and which fixtures pulled the strongest squad availability.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Comnly handle multiple senior teams?

Yes. Target posts and notices by team or category, so 1st XV selection only goes to the 1st XV squad, vets news only goes to vets, and critical clubwide notices reach everyone.

Can team managers post without full admin access?

Yes. Comnly supports scoped admin permissions. You can give a team manager or coach the ability to post selection and fixture updates without giving them billing, member-management, or notification-broadcast authority.

Can we collect tour money and match subs?

Yes. Attach Stripe payment links to any post. Payments route directly to the club's connected Stripe account. Comnly takes no commission. Stripe charges its standard processing fee separately.

Does Comnly cover junior or mini sections?

Comnly accounts remain 18+ only: juniors do not get their own app login, profile, or device. An adult member can, however, add a junior to their own membership as a sub-record and choose to follow the club's mini and junior section interests on the junior's behalf. The parent then receives push notifications about junior fixtures, training, and notices through their own adult account. Comnly does not provide a separate junior-facing experience or under-18 safeguarding workflows, so it complements rather than replaces dedicated junior section tooling.

Is Comnly RFU-affiliated or governed?

Comnly is an independent UK software product. It works for any UK adult rugby club regardless of affiliation. The acknowledgement audit trail is designed to support governance-grade communications such as safety briefings, conduct notices, and AGM motions.

How quickly can we onboard the squad?

Most clubs are live in under an hour. Generate a QR poster for the clubhouse, share a join link in the existing WhatsApp once, or bulk-invite from your existing player email list. Players self-onboard, so there is no admin data entry and no ghost rows in the member list.

Why isn't anyone turning up to training?

Training numbers usually drop because players don't know it's on, didn't get a reminder, or feel like it'll just be the same five players again. Clubs that get training numbers back up do three things: post selection or the training plan with enough notice, send a push reminder the morning of, and target by team so the firsts only see firsts training and the seconds get their own. Comnly handles all three, but the underlying truth is: training fills when players feel told, reminded, and expected.
